In addition to the financial burdens of returning home to a deep recession with few jobs, veterans of the recent wars are experiencing physical, psychological, and social trauma at rates that exceed those of the Vienam war relative to the numbers deployed.  The statistics are unprecedented for homelessness, PTSD, drug abuse, divorce, and suicide; and with tens of thousands due to return home over the coming months, the VA anticipates the number of vets suffering to go up before it goes down.  With budget cuts in housing and other governmental departments, there is a strong possibility that public resources will not be sufficient to meet the needs of so many veterans.
